Hello, boys and girls!

We have now completed reading chapters four and five of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis. The opening pages of chapter five give us some insight into the character of Edmund. Let's take a look at how this scene was depicted in the 2005 Walt Disney Film:

Now, please answer the following question in your journals:

1) Why do you think Edmund decided not to tell the truth? What events from chapter four might support your answer?

2) If Peter believed that Lucy was making up the whole story, why do you think he was still so angry at Edmund?

3) In the movie version, Lucy becomes a little bit suspicious in this scene! She asks Edmund what he was doing while she was off talking to Mr. Tumnus (fast forward to 0:34 to see the look on her face). This line is not in the book. Do you think it gives us a little more insight into why Edmund lied? Why or why not?

4) Make a prediction: do you think Edmund can make up with his brother and sisters? How do you think this might happen?
